Today's full day tour in Ancient city of Hamadan begins with visiting The Tomb of Esther and Mordechai, some believed to house the remains of the biblical Queen Esther and her cousin. Mordechai is the most important pilgrimage site for Jews in the country. The second place we stop by is Ganjnameh, its set of cuneiform characters written in three languages (ancient Persian, Elamite, and Babylonian), set into a rock face on Mount Alvand, This monument is a popular designation of two trilingual inscriptions in three languages by the Achaemenid Darius I and Xerxes. Then we pay a visit to the Avicenna Mausoleum, it is the memorial monument of him as a famous Iranian philosopher, scientist and physician. The original building of this mausoleum was built in Qajar era and the new mausoleum was rebuilt by Iran National Heritage Association according to Mohammad Reza Pahlavi’s order and opened in 1333 AH. Next to the mausoleum is a library, a small museum, and a monumental marble statue. Afterwards we go on to visit Hegmataneh Archeological Palace dating back to the 6th century BC. The said structure is from the times of the Medes. ‘Kiyakesar Madi’ and ‘Nabopolasar Baboli’ were responsible for its construction in the year 614 BC. The decorative pieces used in this palace were ransom from earlier battles. The famous Greek historian has mentioned this palace in his records. The next fascinating site will be Alavian Dome, a historical monument remained form Seljuq era. The plan is square and has star like edges. Unfortunately, the dome was collapsed but the walls still depict many beauties of the Persian architecture. The most interesting of which represent a poem by Atar about thirty birds that move through the seven stages of Sufi’ism in their search for a God, a fable that explains the concepts of the religion. Our final site to visit in Hamadan is Baba Taher, This memorial is tomb of the great Gnostic and poet of the late 4th and early 5th centuries AH. The mausoleum has a simple exterior but a splendid interior with poetries on the walls. “Baba Taher” is chiefly famous for informal tone of his poems. /ON Hamadan/

The temple still contains remnants of some fascinating Irano-Roman mosaics. We’ll then continue on to Bisotun to see a series of world-famous bas-relief carvings dating back to 521BC that were awarded UNESCO recognition in 2006. The key feature is a well-preserved Darius receiving his subjects while a Farohar (a winged Zoroastrian angel denoting purity) hovers overhead; the scene is surrounded by cuneiform inscriptions expounding upon Darius in three lost languages (Elamite, Akkadian and Old Persian). Later, en-route to our night stop at Kermanshah, we’ll visit Taq-e Bostan, a towering cliff of Sassanian bas reliefs showing scenes of hunting, kings and the Shah defeating the Romans. /ON Kermanshah/
